Is there a name for a the 'whoosh' sound that corduroy pants make? In any case, we're ready to get a pair and think you should be too ... and we found some good ones for you to consider.

Your Fall Foundations

Fall's Secret Agent Pants

If you haven’t worn a pair of cords in a while, let this be your sign that it's time to revisit the textured fabric. There's something about it that feels inherently “autumnal”, right? Maybe it's the collegiate vibes or the fact that it's so damn soft and cozy.

But now's the time to pick up a pair. Some nice corduroy pants—either in a traditional, pleated and cuffed style or a more simple five-pocket jean cut—makes for an ideal transitional pant to ease you away from summer and into a new season. Think of it as a sartorial salve to keep you comfortable through the fall and winter. When your wardrobe for the next four months will consist of nothing but heavy sweaters, flannel overshirts and big coats, a sumptuous pair of corduroy pants is the luxe addition that's as hard-wearing as it is handsome.

The best ones right now have a more grown-up look but remain easy to wear. Like secret agent sweatpants—they look sophisticated but really, they're incredibly soft and comfortable. They'll pair well with everything from denim jackets and hoodies to a nubby sweater and a proper pair of boots. Best of all, they're available in a wide range of colors, fits and budgets.

I need to get a water flosser. How much do I need to spend?

- Jim

The good news is that you don't have to spend a lot. Especially when you can get a top-rated brand, on Amazon Prime (on sale, too). This one, from Waterpik, has two pressure settings, a long-lasting charge, and, most importantly, is ADA-approved. It's also cordless, which makes using it in the shower easy and a lot less messy. It utilizes "PrecisionPulse technology" to deliver a combination of water pressure and pulsations, removing up to 99.9% of plaque bacteria from treated areas that cause gingivitis, cavities and bad breath. This might be considered a "starter model" but it will do you just fine.

$49.99 / $39.95 by Waterpik
