You might not think it now, but a versatile blue blazer will soon be the most crucial layer in your closet.

Good/Better/Best

Relaxed Navy Blazers

In the pantheon of classic menswear, few garments sit higher than the blue blazer. The navy jacket instantly conveys that you made some effort. Without diving too deep into its history (yes, there's a long, naval origin story), the blazer has long been associated with preppy, well-heeled men. But in 2025, the best blazers have been stripped down. They're unlined, unstructured and cut from washed cotton twill that's not unlike your favorite fatigue pants.

That not only makes it more comfortable to wear, but also a lot more versatile. Hell, wear them with your favorite fatigue pants. And some washed denim or beat-up chinos. Throw it on over a T-shirt and some sweats and finish the look with loafers. That's the beauty of a good blazer—it makes you look and feel respectable, no matter what else you're wearing. It's your key to getting in anywhere. So which key is right for you? We tried a handful on and these are the three best, no matter your style or budget.

Good

The Classic Blazer

+ Cut from Polo's stretch cotton chino fabric with a wash for a lived-in look and feel

+ Two-button silhouette with a wide notch lapel and double vents

+ The buttons on the sleeve are decorative

+ The fit is more tailored, so you might consider sizing up for a more relaxed fit

Unstructured chino blazer,
$248 by Polo Ralph Lauren

Better

The Versatile Blazer

+ Cut from an 8.9-ounce cotton sateen fabric that's substantial yet lightweight and breathable

+ Tailored in a vintage-inspired three-roll, two-button stance with patch pockets

+ Fully unlined, no back vent and no buttons on the sleeves

+ Matching pants are available to make a casual suit

Sateen carry-on jacket,
$248 by Buck Mason

Best

The Rugged Luxury Blazer

+ Hand-cut and sewn in Italy from an 8.8-ounce washed chino cloth from a mill in Japan

+ Tailored in a relaxed three-roll, two-button stance and finished with genuine horn buttons

+ Finished with outer patch pockets and twin interior pockets (including a passport pocket with button closure)

+ From the wider lapels and slightly boxy shape, this feels the most modern and easy to wear—not to mention luxurious

Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, HAVEN is a men’s lifestyle clothing brand and retailer that blends utility with modern design. Nestled between mountains, oceans, and dense coastal rainforests—and known for its high rainfall and ever-shifting climate—Vancouver provides the perfect backdrop for HAVEN’s mission: to create apparel that performs in unpredictable conditions without compromising style. Rooted in craftsmanship and innovation, HAVEN designs with intention, crafting garments that enrich everyday life through purposeful, functional design.

Each collection reflects the brand’s six core values: authenticity, craftsmanship, functional design, innovation, creative community, and sustainability. These principles guide every decision, from material selection to construction techniques, ensuring each piece is built to last and suited for urban exploration or outdoor adventure. We’re especially fond of these Shop pants, cut from Japanese Apex Twill, the ultra-dense 100% cotton fabric offers natural water resistance and breathability, maintaining a crisp, refined drape throughout the day. I’ll pair them with the Bureau jacket and make a modern suit out of it.
