When was the last time you wore flared or boot-cut jeans? I know … it’s been a minute. But let’s revisit the look. Because there’s definitely something there.

Your Spring Upgrade

Tell Your Jeans to Relax

Some people will point to Kendrick Lamar's Super Bowl halftime performance as the moment that flared jeans made their return to menswear, but as you can see, a wide range of brands already had bigger, boot-cut and flared denim in the pipeline for a Spring 2025 release. These jeans are a little on the freaky side—they've got a mix of' 70s swagger and Y2K nostalgia—and it makes for an eye-grabbing silhouette.

The jeans can be relaxed with a streetwear edge—think washed and worn styles with frayed hems that pool gently over the shoe and stopping short just centimeters from the ground. Or then can be refined and tailored, with a higher waist and crease down the center, just begging to be worn with a crisp top and some polished loafers. Of course, boot-cut denim is also the final sign of Western wear's return to menswear, which has been bubbling up more and more lately.

Now, if you're looking to cop the same jeans Kendrick was wearing on stage, I've got some bad news: They're from Hedi Slimane's Celine collection (which means they cost $1,300 and are already sold out). The good news, however, is that there are a surprising amount of options out there right now. From sub-$100 jeans from trusted brands like Levi's and Gap to some stylish designer interpretations from Todd Snyder and legendary Japanese denim gods KAPTIAL. The amount of flare varies, so you control just how wild you want to get. The choice of styles is yours, but the decision to get a pair is already decided: Flare out and have some fun.

These have less of a flare, but the relaxed straight leg, cut from a mid-weight organic cotton and TENCEL denim gives it a flattering drape.
