↦ Get Outta Town
Friday, August 18th Edition
This week has flown by, which I’m happy about. I’ve waited all week to watch part two of HBO’s docuseries Telemarketers, which airs on Sunday. If you think you work in a weird office environment, watch this, and you'll have second thoughts!

What We’re Wearing
A Weekend Getaway
You can see the end of summer on the horizon, but it’s not over yet. In fact, between “summer Fridays” or well-timed vacation days, not to mention an upcoming long holiday weekend, you've got a few chances left for a leisurely weekend getaway. After all, you've worked hard all week. You'd like to take some time—maybe with a loved one, or a few of your boys, maybe all by yourself—and just unplug. Get up late, savor a good cup of coffee and do absolutely nothing. Well, not nothing. You should spend your time off as you see fit: tucking into a good book, listening to a few podcasts or road tripping to a campsite for a little outdoor adventure and food cooked over an open flame.Which means wearing stuff that's been engineered for easygoing, off-duty pleasure—both indoors and out. Like an incredibly comfy terrycloth polo and some drawstring shorts that are roomy but not sloppy. Take cover under a cool canvas hat and ground the look with some easy, classic canvas sneakers.

Making the Case for …
Suede Boots That Will Last a Lifetime
I discovered Savas a few years ago thanks to Jeremy Kirkland’s podcast Blamo! Savannah Yarborough—founder and designer, is bringing back the Saville Row technique to leather with her bespoke, made-to-measure, and ready-to-wear jackets, boots and accessories. The quality and craftsmanship are like no other, and everything is produced in small-batches. She’s dressed everyone from Jack White and Brian Cox to Daniel Kaluuya.
Her jackets are unbelievably good, but these suede boots are what caught my eye. Anything in a tobacco suede colorway will always pull me in because it goes with everything and always looks so luxurious—clean or worn to shit. These are handcrafted in Tuscany, so no two are genuinely alike. You’re receiving an authentic one-of-one piece. The flexible leather sole and insole take a few wears to contour to your foot, but after that, they’ll fit like you’ve owned them for years. If you're wondering about the versatility of these boots, don't. With an ankle and slim shaft, these will look excellent over a pair of relaxed-tapered jeans or some traditional soft suiting. Each pair of the label’s boots include an almond-toe shape silhouette, antique brass rivets, and their signature two points brass rivets near the outside ankle.
While these are on sale right now, over $700 for boots can make your insides do front flips. Something like the Legend boots though are meant to be worn for a lifetime—with proper care. The color looks excellent in any season, and the exaggerated height of the ankle reminds me of what The Beatles used to wear. It’s a timeless look that will feel right at home today … and tomorrow.

Easymoc's penny mules have all the style of loafers without the blisters that come with breaking them in. They're made in the U.S. from Horween chromexcel leather, and finished with a Vibram camp sole for durability and an Ortholite footbed for added comfort.

This is a lot cooler khaki-color shirt than what Steve Irwin (RIP) used to wear. Stan Ray's version includes two military pockets, an oversized fit and sturdy melamine buttons.
$93 / $47by Stan Ray
There’s still plenty of short-wearing weather left and these easygoing cotton-nylon hybrid versions can be worn with basically anything—from camp collars to hoodies. And now they’re basically half off.

I go back and forth between music and clothes … songs and shoes, accessories and harmonies. And it’s one fluid thing.”

Being attached to a buzzy designer like Peter Do burnishes Banana Republic’s name, which comes at a time when the GAP-owned company is crucially angling for a rebrand.”

The watch’s character comes from its lack thereof, resulting in a harmonic timepiece that fetishizes utility and approachability above all else.”
