Making the Case for …
A Chic Leather Sofa
Trying to find a good couch can be a herculean task. It’s an important piece in any living room and investing in one that’s comfortable, stylish and easy to maintain is a worthy endeavor. And if you’ve got a partner, it’s cruscial that you both agree on one. But some sofas make this challenge almost easy. Take this one from Article, for example. It’s been on my wishlist for a long time, and I’m looking to pull the trigger soon—maybe a good anniversary gift for the Mrs. and me.First and foremost, while the price isn’t cheap, it is less expensive than some other brands. This version from Blu Dot and Burke Decor is almost double the price, and I’d still choose the version from Article. Why? I love the rich, decadent cigar color, which adds an element of sumptuous sophistication to any living room. The rawhide leather has been treated with wax and oil for a smooth feel and will patina beautifully, like a pair of your favorite derbies. I also dig the curvature of the entire sofa—the low profile is intentional so you can melt into the cushions. Both the seat and back are foam-padded and feather-filled. That makes it soft, yet supportive and never lumpy. For almost $2,500, this sofa can serve as a statement piece for a good two, maybe three decades. The design is minimal and timeless and the frame is made of sturdy composite wood. As an added bonus, keeping it clean is easy. Spot clean since it’s leather unless your dog pukes—then you need to hop on Amazon for a professional cleaning solution. And if you’re worried about assembling this, don’t because it’s not required. Lastly, if you need to stretch your legs out while binging a new show, Article’s matching ottoman pairs great.
