Stuff We Swear by
A Go-To Technical Pant
Houdini Sportswear’s roamer pants might just be the very best to wear for any outdoor summer excursion. They’re a reinterpretation of a classic pair of hiking pants, but are even more durable while also being easier to care for and sustainable, too. I’m not much of an outdoorsman, but I love cargo pants. And honestly, I needed a pant option that wasn’t jeans to haul my son around to activities and playgrounds (where I do tend to hike up slides).Much like everything else the brand makes, these pants are made from recycled and renewable fibers. And when you’ve finally worn the hell out of them, you can return the pants to Houdini’s recycling unit so they can use the material from this garment to create another one. The fabric name is Immix Weave—a 75% recycled polyester and 25% virgin polyester—a signature blend meant to withstand a lot of wear and tear for many years to come. The pants have a regular tapered fit with double bellow leg pockets, back zipper pockets and adjustable ankle opening. The fabric has just enough stretch to make them easy to move in and offers the perfect balance between wind protection and breathability. Now that the weather has been warm with occasional rainy days, these pants have been in my weekly rotation. The ample pocket storage is necessary as I have my EDC items along with carry-around snacks for my toddler. Although pants in warm weather can get hot, this material is sweat-wicking, so even in the sun I never feel like I’m overheating. I typically wear these with a more tech-forward sneaker or a pair of Boston clogs. These are also the easiest pants to keep clean—another reason why I would recommend them on a camping trip. Throw them in the ocean or washer and just let them air dry—they’ll come out looking brand new. Houdini’s products are made to be worn out in the elements and worn often.
