Drops to Watch For
Heritage tennis brand K-Swiss is dropping another fire collection—this time with the New York-based brand Engineered Garments. The unisex footwear collection features an updated version of the original K-Swiss Classic model from 1966. The Classic GT retails for $115 and is available in three colorways, mixing an asymmetrical suede and leather design on each shoe. The shoes are available via KSwiss.com, Nepenthes New York and selected retailers.

Two of our favorite brands have collaborated to make a damn good pair of denim. 3sixteen and Wythe made a 14 oz.-pair of selvedge denim that has a slubby and hairy texture with paper-like flecks—almost the same jeans that many of our grandparents would recognize for how hard-wearing they are. The cut is one of 3sixteen’s best-sellers (the classic straight fit) and has been woven with rope-dyed indigo. The back pockets are Wythe’s signature acorn-shaped with a co-branded hair-on hide patch. These are some of the highest quality denim worth investing in, but act fast because they will likely sell out quickly.

George from 'BEEF'
If your friends haven’t already suggested watching the critically acclaimed Netflix show BEEF, then let me be your internet friend and insist that you must see this series. Starring Steven Yeun and Ali Wong, what starts as a road rage encounter gradually turns into an intriguing look at all the ways people deal with and experience anger. That’s all I can say without ruining it with spoilers. But besides the acting, the costume design is some of the best on the small screen. Ali Wong’s character is an entrepreneur, and her husband George stays at home with their kid and comes from a well-off family whose fortune comes from furniture—loosely based on Japanese American artist Isamu Noguchi.George is played by Joseph Lee, and his fits are fire. He dresses like you think a rich LA artist would in 2023. Which, coincidentally, is not too far off from Lee’s real life, where he moonlights as a fine artist. Costume designer Helen Huang dressed George in Japanese labels like Kapital, Batoner and WTAPS, as well as some European brands like Acne Studios and Officine Générale. The fit I liked the most is this one—a relaxed suit with cropped trousers creating juxtaposing portions that just work. I found similar pieces from Officine Générale and Nanushka—George gives the suit a laidback look in that it’s not a traditional navy or black, but an excellent jade green color that feels fresh right now. He keeps the shoes understated, but the shoes from Nanushka are studded to give them a bit of edge. Of course, a crisp white poplin always looks great—he could’ve buttoned it up but decided to leave it open, complementing the nonchalant elegance of a suit.
