Bruce Willis’sUnderrated ‘90s Style
With social media helping ‘90s style resurface over the last year—one guy’s style that has gone under the radar is Bruce Willis. Which is wild, because the guy has crazy blockbuster hits and even blockbuster fits. Some of his most notable movies are still in my rotation like Pulp Fiction, The Fifth Element, and Die Hard. He had a run for the ages with his action movies from the ‘80s to the ‘90s—when he wasn’t acting, he was attending red-carpet events with his former wife, Demi Moore.
Both of their fits go crazy in this shot from the 1992 premiere for A Few Good Men, but Bruce could wear his same outfit today, even the goatee. Last year, menswear guys were all over the Richard Gere aesthetic (including us) thanks to his laidback double-breasted blazer style. However, I think we can take some notes from Mr. Willis. Bruce has a bit more edge to his look with the lace-up boots and worn-in denim—this will always be a winning pair no matter who you are. The polo bear sweater with the open double-breasted blazer is straight-up nonchalant elegance—his style is party on the bottom and business up top, and I’m not mad at the juxtaposition. He also shows you how grooming is key for any look. The goatee is a “bad boy” vibe—could you imagine this look working with a baby face!? I think not.
