WhatWe’reWearing
Autumn Office Style
I think we can all agree that where people work varies wildly today. Whether you’re in the office for a few days a week or completely remote, getting dressed for the day helps the psyche complete your daily to-do list—at least for me, it does. I’ve noticed that on days when I throw sweats and a T-shirt on, I feel less professional and that there’s no clear delineation between myself at home versus my get-shit-done self. Sounds funny, but the days whenever I have meetings or when I’m feeling less inspired, I throw on a pair of pants and an oxford shirt—it’s like my gameday uniform to conquer what I need for the day, even if it’s all in my mind.
Maybe you WFH and your wardrobe is feeling a bit uninspired or you’re back in the office, and it’s time to update your “business professional” uniform for the fall. An unstructured sweater blazer will be your go-to for the office and look just as good on date night—it’s as cozy as a cardigan but looks classy enough to wear in meetings (both virtual and IRL). A lambswool sweater is a cold-weather staple—it’s easy to layer, incredibly comfy and kicks the office chill. As for shoes, consider something that toes the line between business and casual—these here are influenced by traditional moccasins, but have a hardy Goodyear-welted outsole to travel in all weather conditions. And if you’re heading into work, you need a work bag—something easy that doesn’t put any stress on your back—where else would you put your water bottle, hand cream and shades without one?

Katmai Coat
In fashion, there’s nothing I love more than a well-crafted heritage outerwear piece. I wear jackets in every season—my brother once asked me, “Don’t you ever get hot with all your jackets?”—the answer, thankfully, is never. With each season comes new fabrics and now that we’re in fall and winter is right around the corner, I’m looking for heavier fabrics like leather, wool and cashmere. I love double-breasted suits and pea coats—when the fit is spot-on, these can do wonders for your shape, and the silhouettes of both jackets are timeless.
Recently, I’ve had my eye on the Katmai coat from A Kind of Guise because it marries both double-breasted and pea coat silhouettes perfectly. And that makes sense, considering the German brand offers a wide range of clothing and accessories in designs that are contemporary, classy and functional. They carefully select high-quality fabrics and produce as many garments locally as possible—which means that most of the brand’s products are produced in Germany along with some factories in Italy.
The Katmai is a sturdy yet sophisticated double-breasted winter coat—ideal for now until mid-March or early April, depending on your locale. It features a long lapel, two slanted welt pockets in the front to keep your hands warm and store your gloves, while the length is perfectly adjusted to keep your behind extra toasty. I know you’re thinking the ticket ain’t cheap. And you’re right, but that’s because it’s handmade in Germany from a soft Italian virgin wool and cashmere blend. We all know that cashmere is expensive, but virgin wool (also known as untreated wool) is no slouch either. You might call it the ultimate winter fabric—any garment made from this can withstand the ugliest weather conditions—be it bracing winter winds or freezing rain. In that way, this jacket is ready to last a lifetime while continuing to look good. Which is how I’m able to justify adding this to my outwear jawns wishlist.

Drops to Watch For
Blackstock & Weber is back with some of their fall classics and new winter-ready loafers. Their latest lookbook, Out East, was inspired by the brand’s founder, Chris Echevarria, and his slow and serene mornings out of the busy city, relaxing in the Hamptons. To kick off the season, they’re releasing two pairs of cream-colored Vibram-soled loafers in sage and tobacco—both are handsome and perfect to wear in any terrain. The brand will also be reimagining some of their core classics in new colors outfitted with hardwearing Vibram lug soles to give their stylish slip-ons some added ruggedness. That way, you don’t have to trot around any winter conditions.
